2012 Camp Edmo and Camp EdTech Staff

Come back in the Spring to meet all of our 2012 Summer Staff

Meet the Staff at your Location

Currently Viewing: 2012 SF – Presidio Heights/Marina Summer Staff

Robert Atkinson – Camp Director

Robert Atkinson will be returning for his 4th summer at Presidio Heights/Marina and his 3rd year as Camp Director. Robert graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a Bachelor’s degree in History in 2005 and immediately began working with special needs children in the classroom. In 2010, Robert completed his coursework at San Francisco State for his multiple-subject teaching credential. 2011 has seen Robert take two long-term substitute teaching positions: one teaching 7th and 8th grade Language Arts in Redwood City and the other as a 3rd grade teacher at New Traditions School in San Francisco.  Robert is an avid musician and looks to foster creativity in every child he works with.

I am SO looking forward to getting back to Presidio Heights/Marina! It is such a wonderful opportunity to be able to work with such amazing people year in and year out. It continues to amaze me to see just how much a child’s curiosity and excitement for learning can grow over the course of a summer! This summer is going to ROCK!!”

Luther Patenge – Video Gaming Instructor

Luther is joining Edventure More for his first year as Video Gaming Instructor. Luther graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree specializing in Game Design. Having recently moved from Boston, Luther is currently pursuing a career in game development, in addition to writing for comics and contributing fiction to various magazines. An avid participant of many summer programs, Luther can’t wait to bring to his campers the same kind of fun that he enjoyed so much himself.  When he isn’t making games, Luther pursues his loves of science-fiction, eating with his hands, and being embarrassing.

I’m looking forward to showing my class that making games can be even more fun than playing them. It’s a hard but rewarding process that encourages logic, creativity and determination. I can’t wait to help them rise to this challenge. Let’s rock!”

D’Arcy Bertrand – Counselor

This is D’Arcy’s second year as a camp counselor at Camp EdTech. She has been working in the education field for ten years at art studios, farms, classrooms, camps, and as a private tutor. She is currently working on finishing her bachelors degree in psychology and plans on going to graduate school to study education. D’Arcy wishes to continue her career in education as a teacher. Other interests that D’Arcy pursues include music, art, and farming. She sings in an acapella choir and writes music. She also enjoys growing her own food at home. Illustrating story books and comics happily take up much of her time during the week.

I’m looking forward to playing, I mean working hard! What I enjoy about camp is that it is hard to tell the difference a lot of the time!”

Zia Adsit-Metts – Animation Instructor

Zia Adsit-Metts is returning for her second summer at Presidio Heights/Marina and her first summer as Animation Instructor!  As Presidio Height’s Animation Counselor last year, Zia realized her love and passion for teaching.  She has been doing animation for five years, and completed her thesis in animated film at San Francisco State University in Spring 2012.  Zia loves animating, drawing, making movies, and finding out just how creative and brilliant EdTech campers can be

I fell in love with Camp EdTech awesomeness last summer as Presidio Height’s animation counselor and can’t wait to come back this summer.  I had so much fun in the classroom working with last year’s Instructor. I can’t wait to see what fun ideas this year’s campers will have.  I’m really excited to see what amazing movies the campers come up with!”
