Currently Viewing: 2012 SF – Noe/Twin Peaks Summer Staff
Sarah Wells – Camp Director
Sarah Wells, is returning to Noe Valley/Twin Peaks for a fourth summer, this year as Camp Director! After three years as Art Instructor, the torch has been passed by the lovely Ms. Sara Statler, and this Sarah is happy to rise to the challenge and thoroughly excited in anticipation of this summer. During the school year, Sarah works as a Lead Teacher at Miraloma Educational Enrichment Program, and is completing her Master’s degree at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. In addition, this year she helped to collaborate with Camp Edmo and MOCHA (Museum of Children’s Art) to create the 2012 Art Curriculum. Creativity is where she shines brightest, and for Sarah, Camp Edmo is the perfect place to spend the summer.
I am so thrilled to have the honor to be Camp Director for Camp Edmo’s Noe Valley/Twin Peaks location. Being a part of this site since it’s inception, I have watched the children and our staff grow and blossom, and it is such a wonderful opportunity to have an even bigger role in making that happen this summer. Life long learning is something that is of utmost importance to me, and combined with creative play, camp offers me the opportunity to influence children’s lives in meaningful and magical ways. Camp Edmo is the place where fun, learning, laughter, and imagination make one well-rounded summer (not to mention a whole lot of happy campers). Can’t wait for the greatest summer yet!”
Tristan Cai – Digital Photography & Fashion Graphics Instructor
As a practicing artist, Tristan Cai has been recognized for the fine quality of his works. He has received multiple awards such as the highly prestigious San Francisco Art Institute Master of Fine Arts Fellowship, NAC Professional Development Grant, Paris Photo Award, Asia Photo Awards and multiple scholarship awards. Tristan has been mentored by Jyrki Parentainen of the renowned Helsinki School, as well as by famed international artist Massimo Vitali. Tristan is now completing his Masters of Fine Arts degree at the San Francisco Art Institute, while also working as a tutor and teaching assistant in the same college. He has exhibited extensively internationally, with his most recent exhibition “ Cross-scape” traveling through three major museums in Korea from 2011-2012. His works are represented in both private and public collections. With a strong background in advertising and commercial photography, Tristan has photographed for clients like fashion label Polo Ralph Lauren and top advertising agencies like PHS/TBWA. He has also been featured live on Finnish reality TV, Sauma, as the photographer/critic for the models and artists in competition.
I believe in respecting my students as fellow artists and hope to foster a meaningful dialogue with them and understand them on a personal level in order to help them find their own distinct voices. With engaging and participatory style lessons, I plan to empower campers to be proficient in self expression and help them learn how to connect their visual works to the ideas of the world at large. I am very excited and privileged to be part of Camp EdTech and I look forward to forging new friendships, and having a good time learning, teaching and playing!”
Cory Murrell – Movie Star & Animation Instructor
Originally from San Diego, where he played baseball all the way up through high school, Cory Murrell moved to San Francisco in August of 2010 to pursue his dream of being a film maker. Nearly two years later, he is on track to graduate from San Francisco State University in the Spring of 2013 with an emphasis on post-production work in film. Cory has a burning passion for two things: sports and making great films. This is his first summer at CampEdTech. After spending the entire summer last year working with children at a recreation camp in San Diego, Cory is more than ready to bring his expertise to the Noe Valley/Twin Peaks team.
I am so excited to finally be able to bring my passion for creating interesting and entertaining content to a group of kids who are truly interested in learning how to make films. I couldn’t ask for a better way to spend the summer than having fun and making films.”
