Camp Directors
You know that big yellow sun on our logo? That’s them. They are that big ball of energy that inspires curiosity, confidence and kindness in kids and team members alike. And it’s no small feat to become a Camp Director! After a thorough interview and hiring process, each Camp Director goes through an amazing 100 hours of training. They start in February, with sessions that focus on recruiting and managing staff, safety and social intelligence, quality “camper family” service, curriculum, database management, leadership, and diversity. Camp Directors also meet weekly with co-founder Sharon Mor to focus on areas for personal and professional growth. They are trained to be managers and developed to be leaders. Read their bios and you’ll instantly feel the quality of character, spirit, and professionalism they radiate! (Click on the location above to see your camp staff bios.)
Instructors
All our Instructors are credentialed Teachers or college graduates with a contagious enthusiasm for learning. Now there’s something you won’t mind your kids catching! Camp Edmo is the only summer program whose Instructors are trained on site at the museum by our museum partners and Executive Directors – for 50 plus hours! A majority of our Instructors are on a path to become the next Teacher of the Year in California’s schools. We see them as magicians, transforming the basic classroom environment into wonder-filled territories of adventure and “WOW” moments. We invite you to discover the many faces of our Instructors: Water Day Hero, Costume Day Conspirator, and Every Day Role Model for your child.
Counselors
Counselors are the kind of college folks you want your child to look up to…and not just because they’re taller. These artists, athletes, scientists and honor students spend the entire week with your kids. They know your child’s name, favorite hobby, and why they want to be an entomologist when they grow up. We see our Counselors as the next generation of leaders who spark curiosity, kindness and confidence in kids through inquiry-based learning and collaboration. Each of our Counselors is trained for a minimum of 20 hours in group management, conflict resolution, and Instructor assistance. Just wait until Family Fridays to see how your child grew thanks to his or her Counselor!
Counselors-in-Training (CITs)
Counselors-in-Training are junior high or high school students looking to build their leadership and child development skills…and rockets, slime and pickle batteries with our campers. CITs are able to develop personally and professionally outside of their school and family environments. Camp Edmo gives them a chance to be of service, to cultivate strengths they may not have known, and to lay the foundation for leadership. CITs gain community service hours, an Accomplishment Report, a letter of recommendation, and a network of support in the enrichment field from their summer with Edventure More. Keep an eye out for familiar faces from all of our staff positions – you just might be looking at a Camper turned CIT turned Counselor turned Instructor!
In order to provide the safest and most attentive service possible, we maintain a 8:1 camper to staff ratio at Camp EdTech. Learn more about what goes into building a staff of rock stars!
