SNAPS to the 11 Camp Edmo and Camp EdTech filmmakers who turned their passions into premiers by showcasing their animated films at MacWorld 2011. Macworld 2011 is a five-day international event hosted in San Francisco that educates, entertains and immerses attendees in the Apple products community. For the second year in a row, MacWorld President Paul Kent selected 2 shorts to be premiered on plasma screens throughout Moscone Center West and 6 films to be featured on the MacWorld website throughout the run of the conference.

Read the SF Chronicle article about our filmmakers showcased in the Expo: Candise & Trevor (“Planet Disco Dance Off) and Harry & Nicholas (“Trial of the Trash”).

This year’s short films centered on 2010 themes including environmental stewardship and space exploration.

MORE reflections from our prestigious animators!

“Level 1″ by Jack, Nick & Makenzie Jack on how to overcome challenges:

“Work as a team and accept others’ ideas so everyone has input. Makenzie had the original idea and I expanded on that.”

Harry, co-animator of "Trial of the Trash," gets a kick out of being interviewed by SF Chronicle (Not pictured: Nick, co-animator)

Nick on highlights:
“When we were making the movie, it was great to make friends with people I had never met before. My favorite part was coming up with the characters, like King Pickle or Mr. Moustachio.”

“Adventure for Treasure” by Henry & Athena Athena on making the best of glitches:
“When you make a mistake, it’s okay, don’t quit, just work together to fix it. Our guy’s leg broke off in the beginning, so we had to make it part of the story – he ended up being bitten by a shark.”

Henry on skill-building:
“I learned to stick with the project. I just learned how to do green screen and I am about to make a movie with real acting in some period of time.”
